Spook in number 200!
Easily Keswick's most pale passionate member Simon 'spook' Morris plays his 200th game for Keswick this round. His "effortless" drives are a something his team mates have enjoyed watching over the years.
He is also of the most generous too giving lots of time and financial support to the club he loves.
Spook has made 4565 runs including 3 centuries with a top score of 149. Also a prolific wicket taker with his slingshotters, Spook has 180 scalps to his name with career best figures of 6/42.
Well done Spook on a great achievement.
I will overlook the fact you didn't buy me a beer after Saturday's runout.

4000 Runs X2 !!
Both Colin 'hoppy' Hopkins and Guy 'hobbsy' Hobbs both passed the magical 4000 run last round. Both guys were actually at the crease together to bring up each of their individual milestones! Hobbo smacked 32 to pass the milestone while Hoppy was the last dismissed in the innings for a fine captains knock of 91 to get his 4000th and his team over the line. Well done lads.

Twenty20 & Round 4 round up!
20/20 cricket
Keswick started their Keswick 20/20 campaign in fine style with a comprehensive win over Warradale. With Rusty losing two tosses in two days we were sent out to field. Keswick started a little shaky but a fine catch to Rusty got the maroons back in the match. Keswick continually took wickets and was well led by captain Rusty taking 3-12, Lucky also bowled well with 1-16 from his 4 overs. The fielding on display was high class with two run outs and Simon 'Spook' Morris also chipped in catching 1 toddler and 2 dogs down at deep fine leg.
Keswick opened with the formidable duo of 'Dubs' and 'Bubs', with 20 centuries between them hopes were high for some epic bower hitting. Hopes were dashed when Doubleday fell in the 2nd over. At 1/2 Rusty and Heath “Bubbles” MacKay joined forces to smash Warradale to oblivion. The pair put on 102 runs in 9 overs and all but sealed an easy win. Heath smashed a crowd pleasing and bat breaking 69 while Rusty made a well constructed 33 to put us within a whisker of victory. A few late wickets then fell but the total of 121 set by Warradale was easily passed with 4 wickets in hand.
It was fantastic to see such great support and a massive thank you to everyone who came out and supported the boys. Thank you to Dudley for cooking the BBQ and for Ross for managing the money, and to Paul McGowran and Fordey for their camera work. Also thank you to Doc for umpiring the game. It was great to see so much committee support because without these members games like this would not get off the ground!
It was a fun day and the match played in great spirits was enjoyed by all.
Next game is against rivals (quarter final) Plympton Footballers so keep a look out for the date of this match as once again this promises to be a huge match.

Grant Murphy – 250th!!
I know. It’s hard to believe this youthful looking man is old enough to be playing his 250th but he is! Grant Murphy started playing at the club just before man invented the wheel and has been a legend ever since. Murph has amassed 2579 runs with a highest score of 79* and has taken a massive 381 wickets with a best of 6/20. Murph has also taken a hatrick in a final (I think he was a lot quicker back then) remember when the bones didn’t ache? He has also played in the last 4 premierships for Keswick (so Rusty please pick him in the A’s.)
Murph has worked tirelessly on the committee and was secretary and then president for 7 years. He has won numerous clubman of the year awards, and without doubt without Murph the club would not be in the strong position it is in now as he has probably put more hours into Keswick then he did at the TAB, but now with a wife and two children Murph has stepped down to be a premiership player, stroke making number 3 and he is still curving the balls as he was back in 1999 when he won the A grade bowling trophy! (Exactly 10 years ago – pick him Rusty.)
He is a credit to himself, and even though Murph batted a budding 15 year old at number 11, where he made 72*, he is a superstar of the club and he deserves the accolades on his 250th, so if you see his glass empty please fill it up for him. Congratulations Grant Murphy on being a true legend and the most respected man in the club!
